September Newsletter We are excited to be working with many schools this year including Howard University and North Carolina A&T. For the last past six years we have been working with Howard with their homecoming. In the past we've had celebrities such as Melyssa Ford, Pooch Hall, Omarion, Lance Gross, Keke Palmer, and Candace Parker just at their celebrity basketball game. D. Up also participated with last year's North Carolina A&T Aggie Fest, bringing artist such as Dom Kennedy, B.I.G. Krit and J. Gunn to the campus. La Pepsi Concert We Kicked the summer off with the La Pepsi Summer Concerts Series Sabados De Verano, touring in Dallas, New York, Los Angeles, Miami, Houston, and Chicago. The series featured artist such as Tego Calderon, Ivy Queen, Alacranes Musical, Belanova, K-Paz, And 1 Streetball Kings and many more. We also did a sponsorship with Sleepy's Mattress, providing them with street teams all over the country.

Meet the Founder:Theo Brown is the National Director of Promotions at Interscope Records in New York City. He has been responsible for creating awareness of new music and artists throughout the streets, internet, radio, television, mix shows, and clubs. Since taking the position in 2006, he has worked with such great artists such as Lady Gaga, Robin Thicke, M.I.A., Soulja Boy Tell Em, Keri Hilson, 50 Cent, Mariah Carey, Kanye West, Lil Wayne, Fergie, Keyshia Cole, Common, Timbaland, Gwen Stefani, and Lil Jon just to name a few. Brown dedicated two years to handling the marketing and promotions for the And 1 Mixtape Tour, one of the most popular basketball tours in the U.S. He has now taken on the same responsibilities for the Ball 4 Real World Tour, a 30-city arena street ball tour. In addition, Theo also runs his own company, D.Up Entertainment, which serves as the premier college entertainment, event planning and marketing agency with a roster of over 100 artists, djs, comedians, and poets. Recently, Theo teamed up with rap phenomenon Soulja Boy Tell Ems record label, "Stacks on Deck Entertainment", working with new talents such as Lil B , Playboy, Arab and Ja-bar. A native Long Islander with a passion for promotions and a hustlers mentality, Brown made his entry into the music business in 1995 as an intern in the promotions department of Geffen Records. Brown was working under Hank Shockly, founder of the legendary rap group Public Enemy, Mary J. Blidge.In 1998, deciding to create something of his own, Brown started his own entertainment marketing company, D.Up Entertainment. D.Up has been the elite company for marketing and promotions with credit for the International Fighting League known as IFL and Paramount Theaters film Jack Ass.After several years of promoting non-musical events, Brown returned to the music industry as Street Team Manager for the independent label TVT Records. Through his hard work and incredible ethics, Brown quickly rose to becoming the Regional Manager and then Vice President of Nationwide Promotions for TVT. It was then he worked with great talents such as the Ying Yang Twins, Lil Jon, Pitbull and Teedra Moses.After leaving TVT in 2003, Brown became Senior Director of Promotions at Def Jam Records. Brown was well aware that all eyes were on the revered label that has always been known for its innovative promotional campaigns. During his first few months at Def Jam, Brown pulled off a major co-branding partnership with Def Jam and athletic company, Champion. At Def Jam, Brown had worked with artists such as Mariah Carey, Kanye West, Ludacris, Ne-Yo, Rhianna, and Young Jeezy.Theo left Def Jam in 2004 and spent the next two years developing D.Up Entertainment.
